Supporting Free Meal Corporate Social Responsibility Programme

In May 2021, the Covid-19 cases seemed to spread rapidly in Malaysia. The Government had to take initiative to curb it, thus implementing a full lockdown. Such lockdown has impacted the country’s economy and many among the B40 / with disabilities face difficulties to make a living due to loss of income / unemployment.

As part of our CSR and in line with UN SDG No 2 to end hunger, Ajiya Group of Companies are among several other business entities that have supported the Malaysian Social Entrepreneur Foundation (MSEF) on their new program named ‘Free Warm Lunchbox’. Ajiya Group has donated a total of RM200,000, equivalent to 50,000 food packs will be distributed nationwide. Since starting their meal distribution programme on July 29, more than one million mainly Halal packs of free food had been given out to the needy.

With the help of about 100 volunteers, the free meals were distributed every day at 130 locations nationwide for lunch and dinner to ensure that the less privileged, home quarantine and those who lost their jobs will not go hungry.

MSEF continued the food distribution programme nationwide until end of september.

However for certain identified locations such as places that still have a low vaccination rate, the free food giveaway programme will be carried on until the fund allocated has been fully utilised.

Several Ajiya employees has been part of the volunteers, helping to distribute the free meals to those in need.

Besides Free Meal, Ajiya has also contributed RM200,000 to Malaysian Entrepreneurs Compassionate Foundation for REACH and Dato Chan has personally contributed RM50,000 to Tung Shin Hospital via MSEF for medical equipment.
